No Thank You

No Thank You letterpress business cardSøren Ragsdale came to us to create and print this simple card.

Here’s Søren’s brief:
I’d like to order a set of business cards that just say “No Thank You” in a clean, serifed script. I’ve just moved to London where there are a ton of people trying to hand me flyers. I’d like to have something to hand back to them.

I wonder if the people who receive them keep them or just throw them away? Either way, what a great idea!

Letterpress printed black 1/0 on Cranes Crest 365gsm, 100% cotton. Dimensions: 85 x 55mm.

Paper Comes Home

Book of the MachinesBook of the MachinesBook of the MachinesBook of the MachinesWe acquired this fab little book to add to our collection of letterpress ephemera, “The Book of the Machines” by Cellarus. The book was letterpress printed at the Quatro Press, Middlesex on an AutoVic power platen (No. 25587) in an edition of 250 copies. The text is set in Monotype Series 617 10/12pt.

After the initial buzz it created in the print room the high quality laid paper caught our eye. We noticed a watermark and as soon as we held it up to the light we couldn’t believe our eyes. In the make up of the paper is a crown and underneath reads “Abbey Mill Greenfield”. The paper was made on the actual spot we are standing!

This board is great for letterpress as the soft fibres take a lovely deep impression. The coasters were finished with die cut rounded corners. We also printed a 2 colour business card onto 425gsm 100% cotton paper.

Blind Embossing

Embossed logo on 300gsm 100% cotton paperLetterpress printing creates a debossed impression into the paper. The inked plate is pressed into the paper leaving the design or type recessed. We can also print without any ink, a blind deboss. A simply and very effective technique.

The example above shows a blind emboss on 300gsm cotton paper. The image is raised, pushed from back to front. To do this correctly we use a male and female die to create an image that is sharp and crisp.

Limited Edition Letterpress PrintsLimited Edition Letterpress PrintsLimited Edition Letterpress PrintsLimited Edition Letterpress PrintsLimited Edition Letterpress PrintsSomething we are getting asked to do more and more are limited edition letterpress prints. This wonderful illustration by Dutch artist Alice Kok was a delight to print. The flowing linework created a wonderful deep impression into the paper. Alice supplied her illustration via email and we suggested suitable papers. Saunders was perfect for these prints as it would allow a deep impression without the paper warping under the extreme pressures of the press.

Dimensions: 220 x 320mm, letterpress printed onto Saunders 425gsm 100% cotton paper, Black & red ink. Illustration © copyright Alice Kok.

The prints are available to buy direct from Alice at £25 each. Each print is numbered and signed of an limited edition of 50.
