These striking business cards designed by graphic designer Andy Cooke are an excellent example of metallic hot foil and letterpress print techniques. Printing floods of ink or foil can cause us to take a sharp intake of breath but we knew we had to try it for this job. Andy’s design called for a solid flood of metallic foil on one side with extremely fine hot foil and letterpress print on the reverse of the 700gsm Colorplan.

Paired cards for Benny Leung of Blch, on a 540gsm Colorplan Cool Grey.
These cards utilise inks and foils together for a more varied style of print, the first card uses a large grey flood, contrasted with a black foil strip and black inked pattern to deliver a nice tactile impression. The second with a black flood and a gloss transparent foiled strip and pattern.
Transparent foils are a great way to subtly highlight elements of the card, think of them as a debossed Spot UV finish. Use them to make your card stand out from the crowd.

A striking business card from our archives for Gareth Coxon at Dot Design. Printed 2 colours both sides on our Heidelberg platens and die cut to shape. Gareth carefully placed the design elements on each side to avoid any overlapping. The cards are printed on 425gsm cotton.

We simply can’t stop running our singers over these beautiful business cards for Fortnum & Fox. Letterpress printed black ink on both sides of a Colorplan board with a wonderfully textured emboss applied. The combination of the debossed print, embossed texture finished with a black edge colour make these simple cards so striking.

Impressive business cards for Scalable Finance designed by our friends at United Creatives.
Monochrome and stylish, the cards utilise two foils either side of a 540gsm Colorplan Ebony. White gloss foil for the text and logos, with strong geometric shapes brought out with a matte transparent foil. The transparent has a shimmering effect in the light and also gives the card an interesting feel in the hand. Great work.

Super stylish cards created for Feix & Merlin. These cards utilise a blind debossing and ink on one side of a 540gsm Colorplan Smoke, with an ink the other. We love the patterned optical illusion effect across the back, the debossed lines make for a great tactile feel for these cards.

Lovely simple monogrammed business cards for Interior designer Ellie Leigh Williams. With copper foil one side of a Colorplan Real Grey and a black letterpress print the other side. Wisely, Ellie’s card is designed as such that the debossing from either side do not overlap front to back. This way she can achieve maximum deboss on both sides without compromising the appearance on the other. Great stuff!

Jamie at Sliced Bread Animation wanted a corner of his business card to perfectly match the angle of the orange forward slash. The only way to achieve this was to die cut the cards after printing. The choice of paper adds an elegant feel. Mohawk is a fine paper well suited to letterpress printing, in this case 540gsm Mohawk Superfine.
