Lightbulb are a design consultancy with bright ideas looking for a print finish to give their business cards another dimension. The design was created for letterpress and the black and grey ink sinks deep into the 425gsm pure cotton paper. The focal point though is the debossed lightbulb, certain to draw attention when handed out. A deboss clearly shows the impression letterpress can make into the paper, leaving a beautiful tactile finish only possible with this amazing technique.

Working with designers leads to some beautifully crafted work getting on our presses. So when Steve and Chris from United Creatives asked us to print these Whisky labels for their client Artisan Scotch Whisky makers Compass Box Whisky Company, we knew we were getting involved in something exciting.
The labels were letterpress printed on our vintage presses in one colour onto a beautiful uncoated label stock. The labels also required a die cut shape which we decided to ‘kiss-cut’. This means cutting the shape out of the top sheet of the paper enabling the label to be peeled off the backing sheet in one piece ready to be applied to the bottles.

We printed these 2 colour, double-sided business cards for London based art director Richard Monk of 1985®. A bit of a thank you really after an interview we took part in for the CCCCareer website.
Richard’s design is strong and bold typography in black and grey and has printed really well on the 540 white board.

Less is more on this business card we printed recently for Jökull Sólberg Auðunsson. Along with the initial inquiry came lots of examples of the kind of effect Jökull was looking to achieve. After a few emails back and to we felt we had a clear idea of the best way forward. The cards were printed on our Heidelberg platen in silver ink onto 540gsm black stock. The sheen from the silver ink changing with light from different directions.
The heavy stock allowed for a deep impression which resulted a firm business card that feels solid in your hand.

Duplex is a technique where two papers are sandwiched together. The result can be incorporated into the design as shown with these business cards designed by Lee Attwood of GraphicVent. We letterpress printed half the business cards on Duplex White/Orange and the other half White/Blue, mixing to match the coloured side of the card.

Bold typography letterpress printed deep into a heavy 700gsm white Colorplan is a stunning combination.
These business cards for Gabrielle Imerson, Creative Director at Public are bold and powerful. The cards were trimmed to 80 x 60mm, a little wider than a standard business card makeing the 700gsm board feel somehow bigger.

Contemporary yet very classy this fantastic design by the art director (and the groom) Chris Hannah, looks stunning letterpress printed onto white and dark grey 540gsm Colorplan Duplex.
Careful consideration was given to the type of stock in order to enhance the elegance of this design. The monochromatic palette adds to the elegance of the design and the Order of Service which simply has four of the symbols from the design debossed onto Somerset 300gsm, 100% cotton paper, compliments it beautifully. The invitations were finished with rounded corners.

Our recent Twitter Treat has resulted in a superb business card. Will of Desypha was the lucky winner and had the fantastic opportunity to get his business card design letterpress printed for free. The print specs were simple – the card had to be 55 x 85mm and one colour black. We used 425gsm Saunders 100% cotton paper, a beautiful paper perfect for a deep impression.

We enjoyed designing and printing this wild floral wedding invitation. The request was for a vintage looking wild flower illustration with clean and simple typography.
Letterpress printed on our vintage Heidelberg presses onto our favourite paper at the moment, 425gsm Saunders 100% cotton paper and supplied with luxurious Zerkall envelopes. The silver and lilac ink compliment each other beautifully.

Illustrator Gemma Correll came to us to print a limited edition run of her highly detailed ampersand illustration. Letterpress printed on our Heidelberg presses in 2 colours onto 300gsm Somerset 100% cotton paper.
The prints are in a limited edition of 250, signed and numbered and available to purchase directly from Gemma.

Emily had seen our Chrysanthemum correspondence cards and greeting card and asked us to adapt the design to create her wedding invitation and menu card. We discussed preferred colour palettes and provided a couple of layout and colour variations for Emily’s approval. The invitations and menus are printed on heavy 425gsm 100% cotton paper in lime green and brown and were supplied with matching envelopes.
The chrysanthemum drawing is taken from an original pencil drawing by Blush’s very own Alison and was originally part of a range of greeting cards. We are often asked to adapt one of our greeting card designs into a range of wedding stationery.

To mark England’s first game in this years World Cup we printed the greatest score in english football history. Hand set antique wood and metal type and printed on our Vandercook proofing press in black, red and blue. The old wood type creates a beautiful deep impression into the soft pure cotton paper.

Something we are getting asked to do more and more are limited edition letterpress prints. This wonderful illustration by Dutch artist Alice Kok was a delight to print. The flowing linework created a wonderful deep impression into the paper. Alice supplied her illustration via email and we suggested suitable papers. Saunders was perfect for these prints as it would allow a deep impression without the paper warping under the extreme pressures of the press.

We travelled up to Huddersfield in Yorkshire to collect our new press, a Vandercook SP15 proofing press. We have looked far and wide for one of these presses and finally we found #25287.
The press is complete and in superb condition. It even came with new and unused rollers! The press has been well looked after by the previous owner who seemed sad to see it go. But the press has come into a loving new home where it will be well cared for and put to work straight away!

John Henry called on blush°° to print his business cards. We discussed which papers would be most suitable as he wanted a really deep impression. After seeing John’s artwork we recommended Saunders 425gsm. A beautiful soft white cotton paper heavier than the average business card but not too thick to take up too much room in his wallet!
Getting the right amount of ink was critical for this design. We had to have enough coverage for the block at the top of the card without over inking the finer typography at the bottom.

Here’s a sneak peek at one of our new ranges of letterpress wedding stationery ~ Reynolds.
The bride and grooms names are rendered in a beautiful script typeface adorned with swirling glyphs making this a truly personalised piece. Careful and considered typography are the true elements of this design.
Letterpress printed on our vintage printing presses onto a luxurious 300gsm, 100% cotton paper. The soft nature of this paper allows a deep impression creating an irresistible tactile finish. The invitations are accompanied with matching unlined envelopes which have a soft deckled edge on the flaps.
