Hot off the press are these striking business cards for WHP Creative. The cards are a Cranes Crest / Accent Fresco 700gsm duplex, letterpress printed black and blind deboss on the Cranes, black ink on the Fresco. The black logo on the Fresco was originally intended to be a blind deboss but we advised a black ink to help lift it. We can edge paint a Duplex stock and these were painted in a vibrant aqua green.

Red and white duplex is a striking combination as seen here in these business cards we printed for James Sheriff at Genius Division. Printing red ink to complement the red paper and then printing red ink over the red side rather than a blind deboss really help lift the pattern.

These business cards for new company The First 65 have qualities people crave with letterpress. Good design, quality board, deep impression with and without ink and an extra special finish. The ink was hand mixed to match the green paper and the logo was blind debossed on the reverse. As an extra special finish they were edge painted in a vibrant bright orange. The cards were printed on a Heidelberg platen onto 540gsm Duplex White over Green.

We recently worked with design outfit The Ubiquitous Manufacturing Company to print their business cards. The brief called for super thick board with edge painting and we talked at length about the effect they hoped to achieve. We sourced this 1000mic 100% recycled dark grey board – perfect!
The cards were printed on our Heidleberg platen presses in silver ink, 2 sides. The ‘Crown’ logo on the front was due to be a deboss but we printed a transparent white to help lift it.

Letterpress printing creates a debossed impression into the paper. The inked plate is pressed into the paper leaving the design or type recessed. We can also print without any ink, a blind deboss. A simply and very effective technique.
The example above shows a blind emboss on 300gsm cotton paper. The image is raised, pushed from back to front. To do this correctly we use a male and female die to create an image that is sharp and crisp.

Lightbulb are a design consultancy with bright ideas looking for a print finish to give their business cards another dimension. The design was created for letterpress and the black and grey ink sinks deep into the 425gsm pure cotton paper. The focal point though is the debossed lightbulb, certain to draw attention when handed out. A deboss clearly shows the impression letterpress can make into the paper, leaving a beautiful tactile finish only possible with this amazing technique.

We printed these 2 colour, double-sided business cards for London based art director Richard Monk of 1985®. A bit of a thank you really after an interview we took part in for the CCCCareer website.
Richard’s design is strong and bold typography in black and grey and has printed really well on the 540 white board.
The job was part of our unique #LetterpressLive tweeting sessions on Twitter, where we tweet each stage of the process as it happens and is an insight into blush°° and the letterpress process. If you missed the session you can catch up on our Flickr pages.

Contemporary yet very classy this fantastic design by the art director (and the groom) Chris Hannah, looks stunning letterpress printed onto white and dark grey 540gsm Colorplan Duplex.
Careful consideration was given to the type of stock in order to enhance the elegance of this design. The monochromatic palette adds to the elegance of the design and the Order of Service which simply has four of the symbols from the design debossed onto Somerset 300gsm, 100% cotton paper, compliments it beautifully. The invitations were finished with rounded corners.

Our recent Twitter Treat has resulted in a superb business card. Will of Desypha was the lucky winner and had the fantastic opportunity to get his business card design letterpress printed for free. The print specs were simple – the card had to be 55 x 85mm and one colour black. We used 425gsm Saunders 100% cotton paper, a beautiful paper perfect for a deep impression.

John Henry called on blush°° to print his business cards. We discussed which papers would be most suitable as he wanted a really deep impression. After seeing John’s artwork we recommended Saunders 425gsm. A beautiful soft white cotton paper heavier than the average business card but not too thick to take up too much room in his wallet!
Getting the right amount of ink was critical for this design. We had to have enough coverage for the block at the top of the card without over inking the finer typography at the bottom.

We enjoyed printing these business cards for designer David Parsons at Give A Damn Design. A clean design of slab serif type in grey ink and debossed logo. Deboss is letterpress printing but with no ink and creates a superbly tactile finish. (Click here to see another example of deboss). The card is white front and grey back, sandwiched together to create a striking effect that works with the design.
The cards were designed by David and supplied to us as a PDF and we printed the cards on our 1969 Heidelberg press.
Dimensions: 85 x 55mm

We were asked by Darren at Do Creative to print this stunning silver anniversary invitation for The Royal Oak Furniture Company. The cover has the simple but extremely effective idea of age rings of a tree surrounding the ‘25′.
Darren wanted this image debossed deep into the paper but we suggested we run a very, very, very faint tint rather than no ink at all. So we ran a few test prints with no ink and also some varying tints. We felt this tint gave the impression an warmer feel.
The invitation details were printed inside with the same tint and a second colour taken from the PMS supplied. The #EasterEgg fine delicate detail of the logo held well under the extreme pressure of our printing press and the debossed tint was a strong contrast to the second colour.
The invitations were printed on our 1969 Heidelberg platen onto 300gsm 100% cotton paper, 2 sides. Dimensions: 290 x 145 with a centre crease.
