Super stylish cards created for Feix & Merlin. These cards utilise a blind debossing and ink on one side of a 540gsm Colorplan Smoke, with an ink the other. We love the patterned optical illusion effect across the back, the debossed lines make for a great tactile feel for these cards.

Enhanse your deboss with a transparent ink. A great way to bring out a more subtle deboss.

Wedding Photographer Joe Stenson’s card utilises a transparent debossing with an ink either side on the ever-impressive Colorplan Pristine White. Simple, tactile and effective.

We love a deboss and adding a subtle tint can really enhance it. Here’s a great example of a tinted deboss on Colorplan for architects Tigg + Coll. The yellow ink was hand mixed to match the yellow side of the Duplex.

Hot foil and letterpress business cards

These striking business cards designed by graphic designer Andy Cooke are an excellent example of metallic hot foil and letterpress print techniques. Printing floods of ink or foil can cause us to take a sharp intake of breath but we knew we had to try it for this job. Andy’s design called for a solid flood of metallic foil on one side with extremely fine hot foil and letterpress print on the reverse of the 700gsm Colorplan.

The TJM Projects logo called for extremely accurate registration. The overlap created a third colour without the need for a third pass on the press. Overlapping colours is a great way to create extra colours without increasing production costs.

Two colour versions of Colorplan Duplex were used to compliment the brand further.

Ayelike letterpress business cardsPrinting a large flat area of ink on uncoated stock can be tricky, but with careful setup on the press it can be done. We achieved a good solid black on these business cards for Neil McLean of Ayelike. Printing a solid black with a reversed out white logo was an alternative to a white hot foil.

The cards are a Cranes Crest / Accent Fresco 700gsm duplex, letterpress printed black and blind deboss on the Cranes, black ink on the Fresco. The black logo on the Fresco was originally intended to be a blind deboss but we advised a black ink to help lift it. We can edge paint a Duplex stock and these were painted in a vibrant aqua green.

Edge Painted Business Cards

Edge painted business cardsEdge painted business cardsEdge painted business cardsEdge painted business cards We recently worked with design outfit The Ubiquitous Manufacturing Company to print their business cards. The brief called for super thick board with edge painting and we talked at length about the effect they hoped to achieve. We sourced this 1000mic 100% recycled dark grey board – perfect!

The cards were printed on our Heidleberg platen presses in silver ink, 2 sides. The ‘Crown’ logo on the front was due to be a deboss but we printed a transparent white to help lift it.

2 colour and deboss business cardsLightbulb are a design consultancy with bright ideas looking for a print finish to give their business cards another dimension. The design was created for letterpress and the black and grey ink sinks deep into the 425gsm pure cotton paper. The focal point though is the debossed lightbulb, certain to draw attention when handed out. A deboss clearly shows the impression letterpress can make into the paper, leaving a beautiful tactile finish only possible with this amazing technique.

A bit of a thank you really after an interview we took part in for the CCCCareer website.

Richard’s design is strong and bold typography in black and grey and has printed really well on the 540 white board.

The job was part of our unique #LetterpressLive tweeting sessions on Twitter, where we tweet each stage of the process as it happens and is an insight into blush°° and the letterpress process. If you missed the session you can catch up on our Flickr pages.

White & Grey Duplex Letterpress Wedding Stationery

Careful consideration was given to the type of stock in order to enhance the elegance of this design. The monochromatic palette adds to the elegance of the design and the Order of Service which simply has four of the symbols from the design debossed onto Somerset 300gsm, 100% cotton paper, compliments it beautifully. The invitations were finished with rounded corners.
